Godly Play for Young Children
A special place has been created at St. Luke's so that your children can experience worship in such a way that they can grow in their love and knowledge of God. A door person will welcome your child to the Godly Play room. Key Bible stories are told by a trained story teller using simple wooden figures. A reflecting or wondering time with the whole group follows the stories. Finally your child selects the work to do as his/her personal response to the lesson: either using the story figures or with clay and other art materials. Even very young children can bring their daily life experiences to God by retelling the stories. In this way, their "play" in guided in a Godly way. The children, ages 3 to 10 years, are surrounded by beautiful books, pictures, murals and music and know that this is a special place to be with God. The program begins at 10 AM each Sunday. The Godly Play rooms are located in the Parish Hall on the second floor. Teachers and children return to the church during the "Passing of the Peace" to join their families for communion. A nursery service is available for children ages 2 and younger and opens at 9:50 AM across the hall from the Godly Play room upstairs in the Parish Hall. Although the Godly Play program adjourns for the summer, the nursery remains open year round. We are looking forward to a great year of helping children grow spiritually closer to God using new music and lessons to enrich our worship time. (Click on pictures below to enlarge)
